Lawmakers in the state are on the verge of passing historic climate resiliency legislation, and members of the Rhode Island business community are coming together to ensure the effort succeeds. Join us for a 30 minute press conference, where representatives of key sectors in the RI economy—education, small business, and tourism—will discuss why dealing with climate change now will help protect local businesses in the future, and allow the state economy to thrive even as it adapts to a changing climate.

Who:

  • Christina Paxson: President, Brown University;
  • Christine West: Principal, Kite Architects;
  • James Tooney: Associate Program Manager, Blackstone Valley Tourism Council;
  • Kenneth Filarski: Chair, U.S. Green Building Council of Rhode Island;
  • Kaity Ryan: Public Policy Coordinator, Historical Preservation Society of Newport County

Visuals: Large poster with the logos of all 50+ Rhode Island businesses that have officially endorsed the effort, requesting that the state government enact climate resiliency legislation this year.

Sponsors: Rhode Islanders for a Resilient Economy — a group of consultants, Brown University faculty, and students working towards strong state climate legislation.
